Pre-preg is the term given to composite materials that are pre-impregnated with resin prior to the end user adding them into their mould and curing them under vacuum at temperature.
Making components using the pre-preg process allows for incredibly light and strong components with very consistent results if completed correctly. It also allows a generous layup time as the resin will only fully cure when under temperature. Pre-preg material is easy to handle and due to the impregnated resin it has a nice ‘tack’ that allows for a good experience when laminating and positioning into a suitable mould.
Traditionally pre-pregs have been made for use in autoclaves which generally takes this process outside of a typical home users scope due to costs, however DIY Composites offers a fantastic range of high quality UK and European made oven cure pre-pregs making the process incredibly accessible for many users.
Below is the DIY Composites range of everything you may need for the completion of your home or workplace project.
